Vice President:
The Vice President acts as the right-hand person to the board president, filling in for the president when he or she is unable to lead meetings, communicating with City officials, and leading the board.
Candidate for Vice President: George Ermert
George has served as a member of the AHNA Board since 2016. He and his wife Jenny moved to the Arbor Hills Neighborhood in 2013. In 2021, he chaired the board’s membership committee, resulting in the highest membership in recent years.
Treasurer:
This is the role that keeps our association running and makes sure we stay in the black! The treasurer is responsible for managing board finances, providing bi-monthly financial reports to the board and an annual report to the membership, collecting member dues, and reimbursing members for relevant expenses, like block parties. The ideal candidate is someone who has professional experience in finance.
Candidate for Treasurer: Mary Sara
I have lived in Arbor Hills for 32 years and have served on the AHNA board in the past as Vice President and as treasurer of several other organizations in Madison. I love gardening, music and walking my rescue terrier/pit mix, Leona, as far as she will allow me to walk her.
Events Coordinator:
This is a great role for someone who is creative & organized! The events coordinator plans all of our neighborhood events, from Earth Day cleanup in the spring to our summer food truck nights in the park to the Halloween party. With the support of the rest of the board, this person makes sure the events run smoothly and brainstorms other fun ways to bring our neighborhood together.

Member-At-Large
Joining the board as a member-at-large is a great way to get started on the board by participating in meetings and learning more about what Arbor Hills is all about – all while contributing your unique skills to our neighborhood. Recently, members-at-large have taken on roles such as establishing and maintaining relationships with local businesses that advertise in our newsletter, chairing our membership committee, and placing signage in advance of events.
Candidate for member-at-large: Lisa Fernandez
My partner Mark and I moved to Arbor Hills in 2013. We love the neighborhood, all the trees and the closeness to the bike paths and park. I am a retired nurse, having worked inpatient med- surg at UW Hospital and Clinics for 24 years. I have two children and two grandchildren. I want to give back to my community in my retirement and have a particular interest in equity, diversity and anti-racism initiatives. I fill my time with volunteer work, and see serving on the AHNA Board as an opportunity to further my desire to work towards a more cohesive sense of community and justice. I am most happy and energized in service to others.
