A Message From Madison Police to AHNA Residents

Over the last several days we have observed an increase in theft from autos in the Arbor Hills area.  A common trend we are observing outside of the criminal activity in itself, is that valuable personal items are being left in plain view, and some incidents vehicles have been left unlocked.  Most of these incidents are occurring during overnight hours, and are targeting apartment complexes, parking lots and residential areas.  Common items being taken are purses, wallets, cash, shoes and clothes.  Below are some prevention steps for residents.

Below are some of the preventative measures you can take to prevent theft:

  • Lock your car doors

  • Keep windows up

  • Do not keep valuables in your car (including spare keys, medications, car title, backpacks)

  • When possible, park in lit areas

  • If you see something suspicious, report it

  • Communicate with your neighbors

Reference MPD response, a detective has been assigned to follow up and track the incidents. In addition, we will be providing some directed patrol to the area to include Koper Coverage as well as high visibility.
