Construction operations will begin on Monday April 30th.

The following is a listing of work that is proposed for the week:

  1. On Monday - Wednesday night (9PM-6AM), the contractors will be working in the median shoulder of the Beltline between the Railroad tracks and Fish Hatchery Road.  They will be removing the existing shoulder and replacing with new asphalt.  This will take place in the EB & WB directions on all 3 nights.  In addition, they will be removing a section of the Railroad tracks in each direction from the median barrier wall and extending to the middle lane of the Beltline (please note that the tracks are being completely removed during the project).  In order to complete this work, the 2 left lanes of the Beltline in each direction will be shut down during the hours of 9PM-6AM.
  1. Under the Todd Drive Bridge throughout the week (Monday-Friday nights), the Bridge contractor will be closing down 2 lanes in each direction between the hours of 9PM-6AM.  They will be installing plywood between the girders of the bridge for a debri containment system.  The plywood will prevent debri from the bridge deck removal operations from falling onto Todd Drive.
  1. On Thursday night, May 3rd, the EB Beltline lanes will be shifted towards the median from Seminole Highway to Fish Hatchery Road (similar to last years shift towards the median barrier wall).  Several ramps will be closed during the night-time hours to allow the pavement marking removal and new paint lines to be completed.  After Thursday night, the EB Beltline will be down to 2 lanes at 11’ wide.  Be prepared for the Friday morning commute, expect delays in the EB direction.
  1. On Friday night, May 4th, the WB Beltline lanes will be shifted towards the median from just east of Seminole Highway to Fish Hatchery Road (similar to last years shift towards the median barrier wall).  Several ramps will be closed during the night-time hours to allow the pavement marking removal and new paint lines to be completed.  After Friday night, the WB Beltline will be down to 2 lanes at 11’ wide.  Be prepared for the Monday  morning commute, expect delays in the WB direction.
  1. On Saturday, May 5th, temporary concrete barrier wall will be installed in the EB & WB directions in a 700’ long stretch over the Todd Drive Bridge.  Immediately following, the bridge deck demolition will begin.  The Bridge contractor is proposing to work day and night on the removals.
  1. On Sunday morning, May 6th, at 5 AM, the Todd Drive on ramp to EB Beltline will be closed for a period of 7 days.  The ramp must be closed to complete the reconstruction of the ramp.  The ramp will be closed 24 hours a day for the 7 days.

Several other notes that will take place with the Project that are too numerous to single out:

  • The contractors will be working at night throughout the project.  During the night time hours, the Beltline will be shut down to 1 lane in each direction from the Verona Road Bridge to Fish Hatchery Road Bridge.  The Contractor intends to work most nights, however, there may be some nights that the additional lane of the Beltline will not be closed.  Please make the assumption that the Beltline will be down to 1 lane in each direction for the next couple of months.

  • Various ramp closures will be taking place throughout the project as well.  Message boards will be in-place indicating the dates.

  • Speed limit 45 MPH will be posted starting Friday May 4th.  The limits will be the bike overpass bridge just west of Verona Road and the bike overpass bridge just east of Park Street.  Please watch your speeds in the work zone.  The speed reduction is for the workers safety, which includes myself.

  • Overall, I will be sending out my weekly updates every Friday.  If something unexpected comes up, I will send out additional emails.

The schedule I listed above is what the Contractors anticipate.  Weather may play a role in the schedule being altered.  If you have any questions, please give me an email and I will respond.
